New American Poetry Settings for Oboe & Voice (Angelou, Baldwin Burkholder, Poe)

This recital presentation features the interweaving of oboe and voice through settings composed in 2024 featuring American poetry. The three poets featured in these works—Maya Angelou, Esther Baldwin York Burkholder, and Edgar Allan Poe—have their texts featured as recitations and vocalizations, which blend and delineate the act of reciting and singing a text.
