Getting to Indy by Air
The Indianapolis International Airport (IND) is voted Best Airport in North America by Airports Council International and Best Airport in America by readers of Condé Nast Traveler, year after year. It is serviced by all major US-based airlines with non-stop service to ca. 50 destinations. The drive from the airport to downtown is usually 15-20 minutes and ca. 25 minutes to Butler. Rental cars, taxi/rideshare, or hotel shuttles (if available) are usually the best option for ground transportation from the airport. Flying from Europe? Check out Aer Lingus’ new nonstop service from Dublin to Indy.
Getting to Indy by Car
Indiana’s state motto is “Crossroads of America” and Indianapolis is at the heart of those crossroads. Driving to Indy couldn’t be easier. Roughly 50% of the US population lives within a day’s drive of Indy. Four interstate highways (I-65, I-69, I-70, and I-74) pass through the city, and Indy is also served by a beltway (I-465). There are no toll roads in or near Indy.
Getting to Indy by Bus
Indianapolis is served by Greyhound, MegaBus, and FlixBus.
Getting to Indy by Rail
Indianapolis is served by Amtrak.

On-Campus Parking and Arrival
If you drive to campus, you will park in the parking garage (4682 Sunset Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46208). The garage is just north of Clowes Memorial Hall and Schrott Center for the Arts; enter off of Sunset Ave. Note that parking fees must be paid by credit card and that American Express is not accepted. If you are staying on campus at Fairview House, parking is included in your room rental. Check-in at Fairview House first (4550 Sunset Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46208); you’ll receive your parking pass information there. After parking, proceed to the conference registration area in the lobby of the Schrott Center for the Arts (610 W 46th St, Indianapolis, IN 46208) to check-in for the conference. Exhibitors should go to Dugan Hall (625 Butler Way, Indianapolis, IN 46208) to load and unload for the exhibits.

IDRS2025 Conference Shuttle Bus
As a convenience to our conference attendees, IDRS2025 is providing free shuttle bus service between downtown Indy and Butler’s Campus. Most days the pick-up/drop off locations will be the Hyatt Regency downtown and the circular drive in front of Clowes Memorial Hall. On Friday evening the buses will travel between Butler and the Hilbert Circle Theatre for the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra concert and reception.
Please note that we can’t guarantee seats on any bus. We have calculated busing needs based on information provided on our conference registration form, and we hope that everyone will have a seat at the time they want. If that doesn’t happen, you may need to wait for a later bus or use some other form of transportation. Other transportation options include carpooling with friends, using a service like Uber or Lyft, using IndyGo public transportation (https://www.indygo.net/), or taxis.

***There should be enough seats for everyone total, but we need to divvy up riders between the 5pm and 6pm times and between the 10:00 and 11:00 times. Here are our recommendations:
– Try to catch the 5pm bus. If you get a seat on that bus, then you can grab a quick dinner downtown near the theatre.
– If you don’t get a seat on the 5pm bus, grab a quick dinner on-campus and catch the 6pm bus.
– Have a back-up plan (drive/Uber/Lyft/carpool/etc.)
– There’s an NBA Championship Game game downtown Indy at 8:30pm Friday night. Expect Uber/Lyft to be busy, downtown traffic to be heavy, parking rates to be inflated.
– For the ride back to campus we strongly recommend trying to get a seat on the 10:00pm bus. We realize that would mean not staying at the reception long, but it may be worth it. The Pacers game will probably end around 11pm and traffic and ride shares may be problematic.
