Washington Street Trio

Dr. Robert Jordan, Inventor of the Jordan Key, has presented recitals, master classes, and was a featured soloist on tours throughout the United States and Europe with the USAF Bands. Currently, he performs with the Saint Louis Symphony, Opera Saint Louis, Springfield(MO) Symphony, Edwardsville Symphony, and Greenville Symphony. He has performed with the Atlanta, Baton Rouge, Columbus, Dayton Philharmonic, Fox Valley, Milwaukee, Opera Columbus, Savannah, Springfield(OH), and West Virginia Symphony Orchestras.

He holds degrees from Louisiana State University, the University of Michigan, The Ohio State University and a Performer’s Certificate from UWM Institute of Chamber Music. Dr. Jordan held teaching positions at the University of Dayton, Denison University, Heidelberg College, Ohio State University, Tiffin University, UW-Milwaukee, Sinclair Community College, and is presently at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville (SIUE), Southwestern Illinois College, and McKendree University


Mary Nan Jordan is principal clarinetist with the USAF Band of Mid-America and has performed extensively throughout the US and Europe. As a member of the Mid-West Winds woodwind quintet she has performed recitals and masterclasses at colleges across the US, and has been a faculty member of the Sequoyah Chamber Music Festival. She holds degrees from the Juilliard School and Southern Methodist University and her teachers included Steven Girko, Leon Russianoff and Charles Neidich.

An active proponent of new chamber music, Mrs. Jordan has been involved in multiple premieres of new works including the concert band version of Damien Montano’s Concerto for Clarinet and Bassoon at the Arkansas Bandmasters 2010 Convention and premieres of pieces by Arthur Weisberg, John Stenmeitz, Andrew Callo, and Dean Smith at the International Double Reed Society Conferences in 2009, 2010.



Stephen Brown is a retired music professor who now works part-time as manager of his family farm. His most recent CD is Live From Flagstaff featuring his Sonata for Jazz Clarinet and Piano. An upcoming publication is The Sins of Music, a compilation of his articles for the (London) Times Literary Supplement. Poesia, for clarinet, bassoon and piano, is his most recent composition.
