Makayla Rasmussen is a devoted performer and educator with a passion for new music and commissioning new chamber works for bassoon. She frequently performs with orchestras around the midwest including the Champaign-Urbana Symphony, Illinois Symphony, Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony, and the LaCrosse Symphony.
She holds a Bachelor’s of Music from the University of Northern Iowa and will receive her Master’s of Music from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign in the spring 2025 where she studies with Dr. Ben Roidl-Ward. Her former teachers include Marcia Martin and Cayla Bellamy.
Jonathon Hughes is currently pursuing his undergraduate degree at the University of Iowa. At Iowa he studies under Dr. Katy Ambrose. He is regularly seen performing with the Ottumwa and Southeast Iowa symphonies. Jonathon has performed abroad and around the country with previous chamber groups such as the Pavo Wind Quintet and the Amity Brass Quintet. Jonathon’s passion for chamber music drives him as a musician to explore new areas and possibilities in the
world of music.
