Rex Woods

Presenting his first solo recital 60 years ago, Rex Woods has performed as a soloist, accompanist, and chamber musician throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, France, China, and Australia. Mr. Woods studied at Brigham Young University, the University of Arizona, USC, and the American Conservatory at Fontainebleau. The San Francisco Opera Center presented Rex the Otto Guth Memorial Award for excellence in vocal coaching, and he was awarded the Premier Prix de Fontainebleau in chamber music. He earned a Juris Doctor from Arizona State University. Professor Woods has served on the faculties of the University of Texas at Austin and the Interlochen Center for the Arts. From 1988 until his retirement in 2021, he taught piano, accompanying, piano literature, and piano pedagogy at the University of Arizona, including 14 years as an administrator in the School of Music. As professor emeritus, he continues to perform as versatile artist and educator.
