Oboe Duo Agosto, founded in 2009 by Ling-Fei Kang (oboe) and Charles Huang (oboe/English horn), showcases the oboe’s versatility through diverse repertoire and new music advocacy. The duo has commissioned works from composers such as Andrea Clearfield, David Macbride, and Feng-Hsu Lee, and has performed at the International Double Reed Society Conference and the Hartford Women Composers Festival as ensemble-in-residence. Performance highlights include residencies at The Banff Centre in Canada, and appearances at SEAMUS, ICMC-NYCEMF, the Chicago Electro-Acoustic Festival, and venues across New York City and Montreal. Recent projects blend oboe with electronic media, including collaborations with composers Kyong Mee Choi, Ken Steen, and Clearfield’s Daughter of the Sea, featuring choreographer Katie Stevinson-Nollet. Their debut album Imaginary Birds (2019) on Ravello Records features music by Phil Salathé. Dedicated educators, they offer workshops and masterclasses at institutions and festivals worldwide, including in the U.S., Taiwan, and Brazil.
