South African flutist Dr. Myles Roberts, a Cape Town native, began his flute studies at the Hugo Lambrechts Music Centre. A laureate of several international competitions, he has performed with major orchestras across South Africa and the U.S., including the Cape Philharmonic and Fort Collins Symphony. He was awarded the Sir James Galway Headjoint Prize and has appeared at prestigious festivals such as Mahler, Verbier, and Schleswig-Holstein, and venues like the Concertgebouw and Elbphilharmonie. Dr. Roberts has also performed in William Kentridge’s The Head and the Load. He is an active teacher, giving masterclasses worldwide, and has taught at the University of Northern Colorado and Stellenbosch University. His studies include degrees from Stellenbosch University, Italy’s Civica Scuola di Musica Claudio Abbado, and mentorships with Sir James Galway and other esteemed flutists in Switzerland and the U.S.
