Dr. Matthew Geiger is Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Percussion at the University of Kentucky. He has performed internationally in Ecuador, Spain, Sweden, and China, and presented at major events including the Midwest Clinic and the Percussive Arts Society International Convention. A former performer with Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps, he has also taught for DCI World Class finalists The Cadets and The Academy. His recordings include releases on Naxos and Mark Records, notably as percussionist and timpanist on the Grammy-nominated L’Orestie d’Eschyle by Darius Milhaud. Dr. Geiger holds a DMA, dual bachelor’s degrees in Music Performance and Mathematics, and a Spanish minor from the University of Kentucky, as well as a Master’s in Percussion Performance from the University of Michigan. He is a Yamaha Performing Artist and endorses Zildjian Cymbals, Innovative Percussion, and Black Swamp Percussion.
