Macey Rowland, soprano, recently completed her Performance Diploma at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, studying under renowned soprano Heidi Grant Murphy. While at Jacobs, she starred as Alcina in Handel’s Alcina and appeared as a Typist in the world premiere of Mason Bates’ The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, a co-production with the Metropolitan Opera. Other credits include Hanna Glawari in The Merry Widow, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi (Lucca, Italy), and soprano soloist in Beethoven’s Mass in C and Haydn’s Nelson Mass. Macey has sung in IU choruses including Ainadamar, Roméo et Juliette, Sweeney Todd, and Carmen, and performed in numerous professional choruses with Opera Birmingham. She is the 2024 winner of the Indiana NSAL voice competition and a 2025 SongSlam prizewinner for her Elvish-language composition inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s works. Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, Macey is excited to relocate to Chicago this fall to continue her vocal career.
