Lorraine Duso Kitts

Lorraine Duso Kitts is a music professor of double reeds at the University of Central Arkansas. She has been teaching at UCA as well as teaching adjunct double reeds at Hendrix College for over 20 years. She plays Second Oboe with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and Principal Oboe with the Conway Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed in orchestras outside of the State of Arkansas such as the Knoxville Symphony, TN, the Orquesta Sinfonica de Estado de Mexico and Orquesta Sinfonia de Jalapa in Mexico. As a soloist Dr. Duso Kitts has performed with the Arkansas Symphony River Rhapsodie Chamber Music Series at the Clinton Presidential Library, and she was a soloist with other ensembles, such as the Conway Symphony (AR), the Pine Bluff Symphony (AR), Fuzhou Philharmonic Orchestra in Fuzhou, China, and the Little Rock Wind Symphony. Recently, Dr. Duso founded a professional trio for oboe, saxophone, and piano called The Topaz Trio. Founded in 2019, the Topaz Trio explored the tonal sounds created by the unique combination of the oboe and saxophone families. The trio collectively bring years of solo and chamber music experience to this ensemble. To date, the Topaz Trio has performed at international and national conferences, including the International Double Reed Society (IDRS), North Association of College Wind & Percussion Instructors (NACWPI), and North American Saxophone Alliance (NASA). In December 2023, she performed with her trio at the World Saxophone Congress at the Canary Islands, Spain.
