Pianist Lori Piitz has been on the piano faculty at James Madison University since 2002.
Along with her wonderful piano students, she also teaches courses in piano pedagogy, piano literature and “Preparing for the Job Market”. Dr. Piitz enjoys musical collaborations of all kinds, including chamber music and piano four-hands, and has performed in music festivals in the US, Canada, Germany, and Brazil, including the Schleswig-Holstein Festival, the Music & Beyond Festival and Festival of the Sound in Canada, the Rio Winds Festival in Rio de Janeiro, and the Staunton Music Festival in Virginia. She is a founding member of the James Madison University/Shenandoah Valley Chapter of the American Liszt Society. A particular interest in pianist health led to membership in PAMA (Performing Arts Medicine Association) and a Certificate in Injury-Preventive Piano Technique from Salem College in North Carolina.
