Kevin Day (b. 1996) is an acclaimed composer, conductor, and jazz pianist known for his dynamic fusion of jazz, contemporary classical, R&B, and soul. Based in San Diego, his works have been performed by top soloists, wind bands, chamber ensembles, and orchestras worldwide. With over 250 compositions, including nine concerti, his music has reached audiences across the U.S., Canada, Austria, Taiwan, South Africa, and beyond.
A recipient of a MacDowell Fellowship and BMI Composer Award, Mr. Day has been a three-time ASCAP Morton Gould Finalist and a finalist for the ABA Sousa-Oswald and NBA Revelli Awards. His notable works include his Concerto for Wind Ensemble and Departures, a double concerto for trombone and piano set to premiere with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Day’s opera LALOVAVI: An Afro-Futurist Opera in Three Acts will debut as part of Cincinnati Opera’s Black Opera Project.
