Kathryn Gleasman Pisaro, English hornist and music historian, holds Master’s and PhD degrees in musicology from Northwestern University, where she focused on experimental music in 1960s Britain. She has presented at international conferences and contributed to the New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians and the New Dictionary of the History of Ideas.
As an oboist, she has performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Fresno Philharmonic, and artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Ray Charles, Garth Brooks, and the Moody Blues. She has played in numerous Broadway tours, including Phantom of the Opera and Miss Saigon. Kathryn has recorded solo contemporary works, performed with jazz ensembles, and appeared on Pomegranate and Great White Light with the band Poi Dog Pondering. She has toured Europe six times as a new music soloist and performed concertos across the U.S. and Europe. She teaches at CalArts and California State University, Northridge.
