Justin Truell

Justin Truell, from Woodstock, VT, began his musical journey at age 5 as a violinist, later soloing with the Vermont Youth Orchestra at 17 and participating in masterclasses with Soovin Kim and Rachel Barton Pine. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Violin Performance and Pedagogy in 2016 at Wheaton College, studying with Chicago Symphony violinist Cornelius Chiu. In 2019, he completed Master’s Degrees in both Viola and Violin Performance at Indiana University, studying under Stephen Wyrczynski, Jorja Fleezanis, and Mimi Zweig. While focusing on orchestral performance at IU, Justin collaborated with conductors such as Giancarlo Guerrero, Carl St. Clair, Thomas Wilkins, Krzysztof Penderecki, and Joshua Bell. He currently resides in Bloomington, IN, with his wife Emily—who is completing her doctorate in Music Theory at IU—and their two children, Maxwell and Lucy. Justin works as a freelance musician, charter bus driver, and financial advisor, balancing performance, family, and diverse professional interests.
