Jason Shafer is the Principal Clarinet of the Colorado Symphony, a position he has held since 2013. He holds a Bachelor of Music from the Eastman School of Music, where he studied with Kenneth Grant, and has performed with renowned orchestras such as the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Cincinnati Symphony. Jason is also Principal Clarinet at the Sun Valley Music Festival and has performed internationally in Thailand, Austria, Estonia, and Russia. As a chamber musician, he has collaborated with distinguished artists like Yefim Bronfman and Jessye Norman. In addition to performing, Jason is on the faculty at the University of Northern Colorado and the Festival-Institute at Round Top. He holds a master’s degree in performance psychology and helps artists optimize their performance through mental coaching.
