Dr. Hannah Palmquist, originally from Tucson, AZ, began harp studies at age 6 with Patricia Harris of the Tucson Symphony. She earned a BA in Music from the University of Arizona, her MM from the University of Minnesota, and a DMA in Harp Performance from the University of Minnesota. Dedicated to new music, she has premiered works such as Ten Metric Preludes for Harp by N. Jennings White and Within by Aleksandr Brusentsev, and has collaborated with Dr. Susan Miranda on commissions for harp and oboe by Katherine Bergman and Theresa Martin. As part of Duo Leon, Dr. Palmquist performed at the 2022 IDRS Conference. She has performed solo at the IV Rio Harp Festival in Brazil and the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai. Currently Principal Harp with the Mankato Symphony Orchestra, she also teaches harp and piano privately. In her free time, she enjoys nature with her daughters.
