Derek Reeves

Derek Reeves is Principal Violist of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic and violist of the Freimann String Quartet. As soloist, he has performed with orchestras including the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Indianapolis Symphony, Niagara Symphony, and the Gateways Festival Orchestra, and has toured in Europe and Japan.

He has shared the stage with artists such as Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, The Eagles, Josh Groban, and Lindsey Stirling, and has composed and performed music for film and for the albums of Addison Agen and Christiana Danielle.

A dedicated educator, Reeves is adjunct professor of viola at Purdue University Fort Wayne and has taught at institutions including The Juilliard School, Ball State University, and Tennessee State University. He is also on the viola faculty of the Brevard Music Center in North Carolina.

He performs on a viola by Jon Kouwenhoven and lives in Fort Wayne with his wife Patricia and their son Preston.
