Dr. Crystal Barrett is currently Principal Oboe with both the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra and the Danville Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, she has an active career as a freelance musician in the Greater Indianapolis area where she is a frequent recording studio musician and extra musician with ensembles such as the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. She has also held the position of Principal Oboe with the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra, the Long Bay Symphony and the Ohio Light Opera and Second Oboe with the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra.
She maintains a large private oboe studio in Indianapolis and is an active adjudicator with the Indiana State School Music Association.
Dr. Barrett received her Doctorate and Performer Diploma from Indiana University under the direction of accomplished oboists Roger Roe and Linda Strommen. Additionally, she completed a Master of Music from Louisiana State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Cum Laude from the University of South Carolina Honors College.
