Amanda Hopson

Dr. Amanda A. Hopson has collaborated since age ten, performing and recording with vocalists, instrumentalists, and choral groups for over forty years. She earned piano performance degrees from Augustana College (IL) and The University of Texas at Austin. After twenty-four years at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana—where she served as Senior Staff Accompanist, Coordinator of Accompanying, and Coordinator of Keyboard Studies—she joined the faculty at Butler. Amanda was an early pianist for the Grammy-winning choir Conspirare and has accompanied vocalists in masterclasses with Frederica von Stade, Elly Ameling, Thomas Hampson, Nathan Gunn, Jake Heggie, Jason Robert Brown, Stephanie J. Block, Laura Benanti, and Alice Ripley. She especially enjoys contemporary repertoire and, in 2013, recorded In My Memory: American Songs and Song Cycles with tenor Kerry Jennings on Centaur Records. The album features works by Libby Larsen, Tom Cipullo, Lori Laitman, and Richard Pearson Thomas, and is the reference recording for Larsen’s My Antonia.
