High Voltage: Works for Oboe and Electronics
High Voltage: Works for Oboe and Electronics
June 14, 2025 11:30 AM 11:55 AM Eidson-Duckwall Recital Hall
This recital will feature three obscure works for oboe and electronics. It will encompass a variety of styles inspired by techno/dub step, ambient music, poetry and speech rhythms, and unmistakeable pop grooves. So Breath On (Sister, Breathe On) was commissioned by Sara Renner and is inspired by the lyrical lines of Telemann sonatas with dub-step techno. Fade for Oboe and Tape by Charles Peck features the poetry of Wyatt Schroeder, matching the oboe to the speech rhythms of the text about the interactions of a father and son following the death of the mother. Portals by Nathan Hall features two contrasting movements involving ambient style influences and rhythmic, catchy popular grooves.
