From Ear to Reed: Enhancing Oboe Performance through Aural Training

Have you wondered why you took aural skills in college? Many musicians struggle to appy key concepts from aural skills to their instrument, and I have seen how compartmentalized these skills can become. As an oboist and music theory instructor, I understand the challenge of connecting these skills to oboe performance without guidance.

To bridge this gap, I am developing a method book addressing the critical issue of applying ear training concepts to the oboe. In this lecture, I will explore pedagogical research and present practical exercises you can use today to integrate aural skills into oboe practice.
