Keri E. McCarthy

Keri E. McCarthy is Professor of Oboe and Music History at Washington State University, where she serves as Director of the School of Music. She has earned an international reputation as a chamber musician, soloist, teacher, and clinician.

Dr. McCarthy co-founded the Pan Pacific Ensemble, dedicated to performing and commissioning works by contemporary composers from Asia and the United States. The ensemble won the 2022 American Prize in Chamber Music and has released three CDs on Albany Records: Feng, ironhorses, and Ambiguous Traces. She has commissioned Southeast Asian composers and performed in Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Singapore, and Malaysia. A 2011 Fulbright Scholar in Thailand, she explored Thai traditional and contemporary music.

She has premiered works at International Double Reed Society Conferences and released a solo CD, Shadowplay: New Music for Oboe and English Horn. Her next album will be released on Centaur Records in 2025.

Dr. McCarthy earned her doctorate at Indiana University, with previous studies at Yale and Ithaca College.
