Ukrainian composers historically have been underrepresented in classical music mainly due to the oppression and censorship throughout history. This has resulted in Ukrainian composers being unable to be performed or published outside of their native organizations. This recital aims to introduce to the world a variety of styles that flourish in Ukrainian music from neoclassical, folklorism, and avant-garde.
