Andrew Marlin is an active freelance bassoonist based in Chicago, performing regularly with Opera Festival Chicago, Chicago Summer Opera, Oistrakh Symphony, and Northbrook Symphony. He is also a Core Artist with CHAI Collaborative Ensemble and has appeared with the Seattle Symphony and Las Vegas Philharmonic under Maestros Ludovic Morlot and Donato Cabrera. As a dedicated educator, Andrew has built a thriving private studio and contributed to the development of school music programs across the northwest suburbs. His students have earned spots and scholarships at top music schools. He serves as Bassoon Instructor for the Chicago Summer Opera’s Orchestra Program, offering masterclasses, workshops, and lessons. Andrew is also the founder and music director of his own Summer Bassoon Workshop, where he introduces young musicians to orchestral, operatic, ballet, and film music through his original arrangements.
